Welcome to electrified it's your host Dylan Lumis quick update from yesterday based on some of your comments It does turn out like that 8k 47 video was not actually an 8k 47 But an 8k variant that was shooting a 9 millimeter round. I did have my doubts about that So thank you all for confirming car and driver got a cyber beast a cyber truck and did some testing in their first 75 mile per hour range test the cyber beast got 250 miles since the vehicle has a high enough gross vehicle weight rating It's not required to have an EPA estimate But Tesla has listed 301 miles for comparison in a similar test the F-150 lightning got 230 miles plus Tesla's 20 inch all-terrain tires were a disadvantage Relative to the tires that the F-150 lightning was using yet the cyber truck still went 20 miles farther on a full charge Their conclusion the cyber beast's real-world range is not record-breaking by any means as that figure falls in line with rivals That were also being tested on the highest spec trim things were more interesting with the speed test though They said the cyber truck is the quickest pickup truck they've ever tested It also tied as the fourth quickest EV in car and driver history the tri motor cyber beast went 0 to 60 in 2.6 seconds four tenths ahead of the next quickest truck a quad motor Rivian R1 t.
The cyber truck keeps pulling after that it did 0 to 106.9 seconds that was two seconds faster than the next closest truck the Hummer the Tesla also has the quickest top speed of the Group by at least 20 miles per hour They also did a rolling test going from 5 to 60 miles per hour Tesla did it in 2.8 seconds The second best was Rivian at 3.4 seconds and then the Hummer came in at 4.9 seconds Conclusion not only is the cyber beast the quickest pickup in car and driver history But it has rightfully earned a spot near the top of our all-time acceleration list Then we had a somewhat misleading headline from autoblog saying cyber truck values drop sharply after a big spike But it should be obvious that these early-day flipping rates are never Sustainable the two most recent cyber truck sales at dealer only auctions one was a hundred ninety five five and the other one was a hundred and eighty nine thousand Just so you know on some websites like car gurus and a few others There are some cyber trucks currently listed for sale the high end seems to be around $220,000 coming down from there the cheapest one I've seen is about 199,000 Electrak came out today basically taking a shot at Tesla saying that the base camp that they're now shipping is not at all What they unveiled here's the image they were sharing around and to my knowledge this picture on the left This was really more of a render than I think a product.
They were actually promising to bring to the market the thing is though if you remove the cover on the tent on the right It's actually pretty comparable to just the tent on the left if you take out all of this kitchen stuff below that Presumably would have been a different product anyway And that's one that rythian is still trying to find a way to bring to the market themselves this product costs $3,000 and a user on the forums just had it installed They said your first installation of this product does have to happen at a Tesla service center to attach the tents brackets Which support the base of the tent those brackets attached to the side rails in the vault He said although a service center has to do the initial install It's really a straightforward process as long as you can deadlift 90 pounds and or have a friend to help you lift it He said the design is great because you can store gear under the stowed base camp the summary of his review I still can't definitively say whether or not I recommend the $3,000 base camp important to note that right now a feature Tesla has advertised which was tent mode is currently MIA this was supposed to be that self-leveling feature So if you're camping on a hill you don't feel yourself rolling out of the truck tent mode would do that auto leveling by using the air Suspension but that software is not currently in the truck.
There's also Unfortunately, no way to link the trucks AC into the tent with this system Here's a picture of the base camp installed on a customer truck And as you can see at the bottom you have it looks like at least over one foot of storage And here's a picture from the side and these are the official product photos direct from Tesla So when you get on site you can actually prop it up Here's a view out of the tent and just one more showing the unit fully compressed packed up and out of the way Diesel semi trucks historically struggle to get up to highway speed going over the steep incline of Donner Pass in California This video shows Tesla's new electric semi truck taking the pass on with ease Many diesel semi trucks can only reach 60 miles an hour within about 30 seconds with a Tesla semi Can hit 60 in less than 20 seconds on top of that Tesla semi truck has a smaller carbon footprint Uses 2 kilowatt hours of electricity per mile and can travel up to 500 miles without needing to recharge Looks like Tesla just left diesel in the slow lane on the gigabral in front a prosecutor's office in Frankfurt
has opened a probe into the recent arson attack Investigations are moving forward after the incident in all directions and that it involved the criminal offensive sabotage of infrastructure causing harm to the community they said however the exact Identities of the perpetrators are still unclear the German interior minister said we must have a tough response While urging the public prosecutor's office to take action and impose severe penalties to be clear there is conflicting Reporting out there some sources are saying Tesla's going to have no electricity all next week at the plant other sources are saying that Tesla is going to resume operations next week at the plant the source said Berlin was going to resume operations next week was the head of the Works Council but that same individual said Tesla employees would receive information about the restart soon But did not give any further detail on the potential timing of it in the midst of all the nonsense at gigabral in something Interesting has been happening.
I think at most normal companies your average employee would be excited to be at home Take a week off and just relax This was shared by a software engineer at Tesla and it doesn't seem like that's what this group is going to be doing Don't say we canl." Boz And Uniting around a common enemy can be a surprisingly powerful thing Given that the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office has now taken over this investigation, that means this is much larger than just Tesla now, it's essentially a nationwide thing for Germany. I want to be very clear with this one, I have not been able to confirm this by any other sources, but we do have somebody saying that the Gigabrolyn Works Council announced at this organization of Berlin employees that Tesla will continue to pay their employees,
although nobody can go into the factory until the repairs are done. This will have an unfortunate financial impact to Tesla in the near term, but hopefully after the dust settles, Tesla has even stronger backing from the government, some of the public chooses to side with Tesla, critical infrastructure will be better protected, and the mission will carry even more weight for the employees.
As Sawyer pointed out, the updated EPA figure for the Model Y performance is 279 miles, that was down from Tesla's estimate of 285. I bet plenty of you would agree there are a lot of human drivers that would have just pulled right up behind the car ahead of them at that green light, blocking the car trying to turn left, but FSD12 knew to hold back. James Dama also shared an anecdote where FSDV12 was sitting at a light about to make a left turn, the opposite traffic was stopped at the light. What happened when the light turned green though, that opposite traffic, the first car did not move, they were busy looking at their phone, V12 only waited about 2 or 3 seconds, and then actually made that left turn ahead of the opposite lane that was supposed to have the right of way going straight through the light. James said that type of move is probably something the 11 never would have done. V12 has been doing some teenage-like variants of parking, to which James said I don't think they're specifically targeting parking right now, it's just an incidental behavior.
Some of you know, I was on the fitness performance wellness path until I was pushed off of it, it's been almost 3 years of trying to heal from what I later learned was a parasite. It hasn't been until this year that I've started feeling somewhat like myself again, I still have a long way to go, but my message to you would be to focus on your health, not even to live longer, but to live better. That's part of why I've partnered with AG1 who is the sponsor of this video. The studies have shown the absorption of AG1 should be significantly better than a multivitamin. I looked around before AG1, but when it comes to high quality, whole food sourced ingredients and a team of people that I personally trust, I kept coming back to AG1.
AG1 tests for over 950 impurities and allergens, plus there's no GMO, no artificial sweeteners, no gluten, no dairy, and the list goes on. I've learned the hard way our body thrives with a diverse nutrient profile and AG1 is a quick and easy way to get at least some of everything you're seeing on the screen. Now you can use my key barcode on the screen to make getting your AG1 freebies even easier. Or you can use my link below to get five travel packs and a one year supply of Vitamin D3K2 for free. You know, what started out is a strategic decision by the Chinese government to dominate newbies has now turned Becky into one that's tactical because they have so much over capacity right now in China. They sold a little over about 7 million EVs in China last year and they have capacity for almost 20. So now they're exporting and for the US, you know, there's high tariffs right now. But if they decide to put plants in Mexico, potentially they can use NAFTA to bring those vehicles in, you know, tariff free.
And that's why I believe the US government is going to do something not for a permanent but some period of time to give the Western or domestic automakers here some time to catch up because of the unlevel playing field. If they don't, what does that mean for the big three automakers? Well, it means a lot of pain and hurt ahead. Listen, at the end of the day, it's not only the labor that's much less for these Chinese auto companies, you know, they, a lot of the elements for the batteries are made locally so that it's lower price for them. And so it's going to be a really hard time. If you think it's hard now, it's going to get even harder. Tesla is probably the best position of the Western automakers because they are the most vertically integrated. But you look at some of the newcomers, you know, like, you know, Rivian yesterday announced a new product, but you look at some of the players there, they need scale to survive.
And I think that will put them at the most risk if the Chinese products come through. Tesla is scheming up a new plan to solve the charger length gate and it's more than just the four locations. On a Tesla blog post under does the supercharger cable reach all EVs. Tesla said we are working on a next to next extension cable, which will be available for purchase in the future.
That would solve so many problems for so many non Tesla owners. So hopefully Tesla rolls that out sooner rather than later after 11 weeks of a stop sale on GM's upcoming Chevy Blazer on the Altium platform, they are now resuming sales with a significant price drop. The company says it made significant software updates to correct various issues that owners were experiencing and they'll be dropping prices anywhere between $5,600 and $6,500. Significant price cuts before you really deliver any of this vehicle at all is usually not a great sign. So far they've only sold about 480 of these vehicles. Now it'll start at $50,000 and it will be eligible for the $7,500 tax credit. It is however not yet listed on the fueleconomy.gov website. As part of this software update to fix the problems they also added some new features like ambient lighting with selectable colors and a revised digital gauge cluster with new graphics that now includes a battery percentage display. Man oh man is Mary leading or is she leading. GM also confirmed they will not reinstate Apple CarPlay or Android Auto in the Blazer or future vehicles. That coming from GM's VP of product, he also said when you are a company that is deeply vertically integrated, that's actually in the business of creating the hardware as well as the software and the service, you can create far more seamless experiences. Vertical integration is the best way to go. When you're paying attention, these type of comments should really make you feel a type of way. The only reason these companies are saying this is because Tesla has proven to everybody it is actually the only way to go in an EV future. And sure GM is slowly working to integrate more of its business under one umbrella but to say that they're a deeply vertically integrated company when you have companies like Tesla and BYD, it's just an absurd statement. And listen I promise you guys I am not trying to bash on some of these legacy companies, it's just sometimes I feel like they do and say things that deserve a little bashing. Like the informed crowd knows you're lying.
They're saying the base model will start under $50,000 before the tax credit but that one won't be available until later this year. In a recent interview with Barron's Mary Barra gave a bit more clarity on when we can expect the next gen bolt on the Altium platform, she said the summer or fall of 2025. We also have Acura's first fully electric ZDX coming in at a starting price of $64.5 thousand dollars that will also qualify for the full credit. The ZDX is expected to arrive at Acura dealerships in the coming months, this will also be on the Altium platform. The expected EPA ranges are a bit lower than the market was expecting, it'll range on the low end from 278 up to 313 miles on the high end. For now they're saying a battery pack size of 102kWh. RJ Scoringe said on X in less than 24 hours we've taken more than 68,000 R2 reservations. I know a lot of stock analysts like to use these reservations and then run calculations off of them, I'm just not sure how much stock we can put into a $100 fully refundable deposit. I'm not predicting anything here but if Rivian's playbook was to generate some investor hype ahead of a potential cap raise, this is exactly how you would do it. Honestly though, I hope this number keeps flying up for Rivian.
So the charging port, what was the decision between removing the charging port now? Yes, so today it's in the front driver's side and it moved it to the rear passenger side and the reason for that is we wanted it to be on the same diagonal so if you had a charger in your house you can back in and everything still fits the same way. The reason to go to the back was really driven out of achieving these aggressive cost targets. So the rear will drive version of the vehicle with just one motor in the back. We didn't want to have to run high voltage cable up to the front because all the high voltage output from the battery pack is coming out the back of the battery pack and it goes of course into the motor and now it comes out of the battery pack into the motor or to the charge port. Whereas an R1 is a little different because we always have a motor in the front and the back so there's already high voltage in the front as well. The good news, it sounds like on the R2 platform Rivian is going to have the charge port in the rear of the vehicle.
The reason RJ gave for having the charge port on the rear passenger side doesn't really check out because the home charger for Rivian, the cable is 25 feet. Point being a Rivian owner at home should be covered no matter what given the length of that cable so why would they not then optimize for the supercharger or the Rivian adventure network. We'll see what happens. We got the official breakdown for Tesla China data for the month of February. It came in at 30.1004 domestic sales and 30.2004 export. What we can look at though is the first two months of last year compared to the first two months of this year and we are 6.15% behind that pace in 2023. Just looking at domestic sales though for January and February this year were about 9,000 units ahead of where we were in 2023. But for exports were about 18,000 units behind where we were after the first two months last year.
A mobile service tech on Reddit has posted that the new yoke retrofits have arrived. They have the physical horn, the camera button and a different feel. In case you're interested he was answering some questions in the comments so I'll have this linked below. Sawyer reported on this new Tesla incentive I could not find it anywhere I did not get anything from Tesla so maybe it's just specific customers that are getting this from Tesla. With that in mind he said starting today Tesla is offering existing owners in the US and Canada a paint or interior color upgrade when they order antique delivery from existing inventory by March 31st. This can be stacked with all existing incentives, excludes leased vehicles.
Tesla's thought closed the week at $175.34 down 1.85% while the NASDAQ was down 1.16%. It was a lower volume day for Tesla trading about 17 million shares below the average 30 day volume. For the week Tesla was down 12.47%. Don't forget check out AG1 linked below if you're interested it might just be the thing that helps you with that slight mindset shift to make better choices overall.
