Alright, my friends, today we are going to be doing a deep dive on a planetary being who has been in the spotlight quite a bit these days. We're talking about Saturn. We're going to take this conversation beyond just the Saturn and Neptune conjunction that just happened at zero degrees of varies and really start to unpack the archetype of Saturn. Also talking about Saturn cycles throughout your life. So all the different phases that we've all heard of the Saturn return, but there are some other Saturn cycles that we are all living through that are really, really important to know about. In addition, we're going to talk about Saturn transits. So including that Saturn Neptune transit we just had, but what about other Saturn transits, especially when they are hitting your chart personally. So Saturn conjunct your son or Saturn on your ascendant or opposing something important.
So we're going to be doing a deep dive on all of these topics and we have someone here with us today who is so amazing. Mark Lawrence and who has been practicing and teaching astrology for over 30 years, 40 years, Mark. Yeah, yeah, about that. I mean, I got my first book at 10, but I've been seriously into astrology since my Saturn return. There you go. So there you go. So someone who has I've a 38. Yeah. Yes. And someone who has lived through and known about astrology through a lot of the Saturn transits, which we were talking about before we went live, how Katie, who is helping us on this podcast and myself, we neither one of us knew anything about astrology when we had our first Saturn return. And so now that we do know about astrology, it feels like, okay, we can actually be prepared for the next big one and see how that the experience of Saturn is different.
So Mark, we're so happy to have you here. Thank you for joining us. Oh, thank you, Amanda. As I said, I love being here. I love being on astrology. It's fantastic.
Alright. So let's start with Saturn as an archetype. How Saturn is misunderstood? How you interpret Saturn in the chart and just from an archetypal energy perspective? Yeah. First off, I just want to say I know this planet really, really well because it asks back six of my natal planets, including being in a grand cross with my son, my moon, and my ascender. So I've got my son and my moon in opposition, my ascendant squares it and Saturn squares it from the other side. Wow. So I know this planet. I know how it works. And the age I am now, hopefully I'm working with the world because really, I want the stigma that Saturn has when everybody talks about Saturn in our chart say, oh, Saturn, it becomes the great moral ethic. That's the tag it was given by the ancient astrologers. It's really satan.
What Saturn does is it sees our potential. It sees our contract. It sees what we want to live into this lifetime. It sees where we want to go and it sees how good we can be at this. And so Saturn doesn't want you to waste it. Saturn's on your case on the level of don't waste your potential. Don't waste your life. So if you want to put it in a picture, maybe it is like a teacher or the coach that sees the student who is really good at something. He's got a natural talent at the violin or a naturally good swimmer or something. And they pinpoint that student and actually go, I want you to be the best. So I'm going to be on your case. I'm going to make sure that you are going to be the best violin player in the world or the or an Olympics remedy. I'm going to make sure of that. So therefore we're going to have to work. We're going to have to work at it.
Don't waste your talent. And for us, there is something in all of us. We've come here for a reason is there is something in all of us that has something really, really special to offer. And Saturn's not just about the outside things that we have to do. Saturn is also the person we want to become and the person we want to be. But really in the end, to me, it's become my favorite planet because it has guided me so well to becoming the person I want to become. And I can see it's all Saturn because every time I've had really strong Saturn stuff in my life, I've always had to sit down and assess. I've always had to sit down and assess who I am. Where I'm going. How much I'm owning my life and how much I'm giving it away.
I think so many of us are still feeling we have to wait for permission to live our lives. We still think that things outside of us are going to do it for us or we feel like we have to. We have to salute too many things outside of us and wait for something to happen. But Saturn is actually going to have to. You're in the driver's seat. You're the owner of your life. You're the boss of your life. You're in the driver's seat. You don't have to wait for anybody to tell you how to do it or what to do. But we're growing up that way. We're growing up thinking there's authority figures out there. There's people who are going to try to stop us. There are people we're always going to have to get some kind of approval from. And Saturn's like, uh-uh. You've got your mountain. You've come here for a reason. Your mountain is there to climb. And it's up to you to put one step one foot in front of the other and start climbing that mountain.
Now another reason they didn't like it was Saturn says you are responsible for your life as well. So therefore everything you do, every step you take, every thought you make, every the way you react to things and the way you do things, you're totally responsible for what's going on here. Okay. But being accountable for what's going on is fantastic because when you're accountable and when you're responsible, then you know that your life is in your own hands. You know that you can't blame anymore. And there's some, there's a form of safety that comes from blaming. It was my mother's fault. It was my money. It was my husband. It was my children. You can blame, blame, blame, blame, blame. And then if things don't work out in your life, you can actually say, Oh, it's my mother. She got in the way. But Saturn's actually going, uh-uh. No blaming involved here. What about you? What did you do in this particular situation?
So everything gets brought back to you again. And so again, being accountable and being able to, you know, come into a place of realizing that everything I do is still up to me. So even if my mother is difficult, even if my money isn't coming in as well as I hope, but would I can't blame that? I can't actually point to that and actually get that to stop me. I'm still responsible for how I deal with my mother. I'm still responsible for how I'm dealing with my financial situation. I'm still responsible for everything out there that I can blame. I'm still responsible for how I'm going to react to it or how I'm using it in my life.
So when you know that and then as you go through Saturn's times throughout your life, you'll go through Saturn's time, you will sit down and you'll go, What's working for me and what's not? Is the way I'm dealing with my mother working for me? Am I feeling that I'm heading in the right direction with her in the way I deal with her? Or am I still allowing her and her energy and everything about her to what to challenge me or to stop me or to to make me feel bad about myself or am I reliving old patterns with her? So again, you've got to sit down and you've got to actually possatinise the planet of reality. It hits you right in the face with what's going on. It doesn't push it forward. It doesn't actually go, Oh, you know, it's like that's what it is. That's what's happening.
And so you've got to sit down and you've got to look at your life head on and you've got to actually say that's not working. And so if it's not working, I've got to do something about it. It's up to me to do something about it. I can't leave the rest of my life blaming, particularly something in a situation like my mom. I can't do that because I'll never leave my life. I'll never allow my life to truly flourish. And I'll definitely never achieve anything or try out for anything because I'm always looking at all the things that are going to stop me, which Satan is trying to actually go, you've got to do something about the way you react to those things.
So it's a wonderful planet. You work, you have to work at it. If you want to build muscle, you've got to go to the gym. If you want to lose weight, you've got to eat the right things. It's work. And there is impulse control. That's another big one impulse control. And that feeling of, I would love to do that, but you know in the back of your mind, this is not good for me. In the long run, it's not going to be good for me. So there is something in us that disappoints in us that can actually say, no, I'm not going to do that.
And the average person doesn't really like that all that much because we love to be indulgent, we love to be irresponsible, we love to throw our life away just for the smaller and significant things. And Satan's always going to be going really in the long run. Are they things you can take forward? Are they things that are really going to be important at the end of the day? Are they things you're going to be proud of? Are they things, you know, when you're taking your last breath at 103? Are those things you're going to be looking back at and be happy you did or not?
So Mark, we don't have to learn all these things all at once though, right? So first of all, it sounds like the ultimate, like tough love parent, the one who it's not easy, but they're the ones who really help to shape and mold you into who you can be. But we go through cycles. So we have these different phases of life, different times in our life, when satan is making really critical movements throughout our chart and emphasizing different things at different times. And we get to mature with satan over time.
So can we talk about those cycles? Because everyone talks about the satan returns, but there's some other really critical points in between that are really important to pay attention to. And so can we talk about what those are? George, sure, very much so. So satan is chronos. It's about time. Satan is the lord of time. And satan is here on the planet in the time and space. What we deal with here with time and space. So time is a big thing for satan.
And I want to say, wherever satan is in your ladle chart, it's not going to happen early for you. Don't expect satan in everything to do with satan to really flourish in your teens or your 20s. It's going to take a little bit of time, but wherever satan is in your chart to really get to a stage where you're actually thinking, oh, this is good. Because satan is about maturity. Satan is about that feeling of actually climbing the mountain and getting closer and closer. And it's one step at a time.
So therefore, as you're growing older, you're not only going to have your returns, you're going to have your satan return just before 30 and the second one just before 60. And if you're lucky enough to live that long, you'll have another one just before 90. But it's not only those times, you're going to get in between, you're going to get your oppositions satan opposite satan, which is like a satan formoon. And I'll go into that in a big way when we do our, when we do our workshop.
And then you get your squares in between. You get your roughly seven to eight years in between after your first satan return, you're going to get your satan square. And then you're going to get your opposition. And then you're going to get your third square or your waxing square. And then it's going to go back to the return again. So all the time, these are like sign posts, they're like miles, stone times for you in a satan way.
And they are like tears of going up, going up the mountain or climbing up the ladder. There are different tears. And it's going to depend on your chart, of course, where they land in your chart by sign and by house. And also they're going to, if there are other aspects involved with other planets, they're going to play into it for sure as well. But the, the opposition, the first opposition you have is 14, 14, 15, which a lot of teachers say is the night, mere class to teach.
Eighth grade, eighth grade freshman year. Exactly. Yes. Yeah. In Australia, it's, I think it's called year nine in Australia, which is, yeah. So the 14, 15 time, the kids are really starting to come into, they're thinking they can have a bit of authority themselves. And they think that the, the authorities against them. So there's authority against authority. And so they're at their most kind of, I don't want to say every 14 or 15 year old is like this, but that can be their most contentious during this time because it's my authority against your authority.
But they are growing up, without growing up for the first time. And it is going to be, it's, it's adolescence. The body is changing around that time. Boys and girls turning into adults at that time. Their body, everything is happening to their bodies and they're not little kids anymore. Okay. So the second one is in our early 40s, but the second one happens with Neptune screen, Neptune, Pluto, a square Pluto, and your right is coming up to the right.
So I don't want to say it gets caught up in the mix of that. But it does, it's another full moon on the level of where am I right now? It's a halfway point of my life. Okay. So the first, the first Saturn opposition is around 14, 15, the second, and you're calling it like a full moon, like a Saturn full moon. Yes. Yeah. Everything. Everything. Yeah. There's a feeling of things coming to a head at this particular time. Okay.
And the second one, the second one is in the early 40s, and you're saying there's also a lot of other life cycle transits that are happening at that same time. So it's not as distinct, but it's still happening. It's really interesting because these particular life cycle transits can sometimes be particularly Pluto can happen at different ages depending on when you're born. Pluto could be before it or Pluto could be after it, depending on when you are. But it could get caught in the mix, but I don't want to actually I don't want to actually say I was going to just go into the blender.
I want to say there, there was something very distinct about the second opposition that you have after your first return. It happens roughly between 42, 42, 42, 43. This period of time, you are at the halfway point of the life if you want to do the math. You know what I mean? You're kind of really looking quite straight down the line of this is it. You know, I've done half of my life and I'm about to start the next half of my life. And again, this is the time where you really reassess everything from the first half of your life. All the stuff that has worked and all the stuff that hasn't worked.
And you've got to really be very, very, very real with yourself, very truthful with yourself around this time and be able to look objectively because Saturn's an objective planet. Saturn keeps a motion right out of the way. Truly does. Saturn's an objective planet. And you've got to be objective around the things that didn't work. And you've got to be objective around how you were a big part of why they didn't work. And again, this is not about blaming you. This is not about saying, oh, you're a bad person. This is just about you being aware enough about yourself to realize that I was in the mix of all the things that didn't work.
And now I can be clear to realize, okay, I did this. I thought this. I reacted this way. And be able to at this point be able to go, okay, I want the second half of my life to take more charge of the second half of my life to be more in control of the second half of my life. So I can see where I went wrong in the first half. And now I know that I'm responsible. And I'm in the driver's seat for correcting that. For doing something different. It's up to me.
And so that's the second full moon. That's the second Saturn opposite Saturn you get in your early 40s. It has that kind of, I find a lot of people don't really want to look or take responsibility for the things that went wrong. They want to actually say it was my husband or it was my job or rather than actually go, no, I played a part in that. I played a part in that. And again, it's not necessarily I played a part in a bad way. It could be I played in a part up part in staying in it for too long. Doesn't make you a bad person. It just means I played a part.
It goes down that road of you going, okay, I realize that every relationship from now on, I'm going to lay down who I am and what I want and the kind of the things I want in a relationship. I'm going to put that down straight away before we even start because I didn't in my first relationship and it in a bad way. Okay, so the opposition, we have the second one in the 40s, then wins the third one. The third one you'll have in your early 70s. Early 70s.
Okay, and each of these are culminating moments of where am I at? What have I accomplished? What have I not accomplished? How did I contribute to where I'm at right now? How can I change that going forward? Now let's talk about the squares. Well, the squares are really interesting because I happen roughly every seven to eight years between the opposition and the return. I don't know if in America if this series was popular, but there was a British series called Seven Up where there was a group of interviewers, reporters that went into a kindergarten of seven year olds and interviewed them all of the little kids.
And then seven years later, they met up with the same kids when they were 14, 15 and interviewed them again. And then seven years later, when they were 21, 22, interviewed them again. And they're in their 60s now. They're coming up to 17 now. The first one was in 1964. So they were born in 1957. And they're all coming up to 17 now. And they've been interviewing them every seven years throughout their lives. So you've been following their lives basically.
Was this based on astrology or did they just. Well, they. Astrology's not mentioned, but I was told many years ago that when it was first started, they were following the satan cycle. They were following the seven. Yeah, isn't it just? Yes. They were following the seven-year satan cycle to have a look at where they were every seven years. So it is. It isn't another version of an assessment time. It is a version of being able to sit down again with yourself and have a good look at what's happening in your life and where you're going in your life. And because you're looking at seven years, it is. For me, seven is one of those numbers. It's a really, really interesting number. And when you're looking at the harmonics of the seventh harmonic in astrology, it's a very spiritual. It's got a very spiritual bent to it. The seventh harmonic planets that are in 51 degree aspect to each other are in the seventh harmonic.
And it's very spiritual. And I've experienced that myself. I've had in my quarters, in my squares, I've had moments where I've had spiritual years, years where I've really allowed myself to bring soul or spirit in a big way to help me and to guide me during those particular times. I feel that that's seems to be for me and what I've experienced and what I've noticed in my clients. It feels at that once to come in during the quarters, during the squares. Yeah. Yeah. So Mark, okay, so basically we can, if we know our seven times tables, we can figure out where we're at in this cycle. My question is when the inner circle, we work with the lunar cycle quite a bit. We set our intentions together at the new moon and you're going to be an inner circle guide for Pisces coming up.
Yeah, I'm looking forward to that. Yes. So, but one of the things is as we're working with that lunar cycle, the first quarter moon, they call like the crisis point. And the third quarter moon is like integration, right? Because you're coming, you're closing up a cycle and you're learning. It does it work that way also with Saturn. Would you say that first square around age seven and then you can do our times tables forward? But that it's kind of like it can be a little bit of a crisis point. And then if you're coming up on a closing square like me, for example, because I'm in B49 next year, so that'll be a closing square, is that a more introspective integration time?
Yeah, for sure. For sure. And you've got to remember too, the seven years isn't exactly seven years, it's seven, it's roughly seven and a half years. You could be getting your all your square maybe one year after the actual seven year thing, you might be. So just make sure that you're having a look at your chart to make sure that Saturn is actually squaring rather than actually just going all I'm 49, so I must be squaring, it might not be until the following year, that kind of thing. And is it that exact mark? Like even if you were within orb of that square, would you be feeling it or is it?
Yeah, for sure. For sure. Yeah, the exact could be, you might be thinking, oh, I'm 49, so I'm having a square, but the exact square might be happening at 50, you know, what I mean? But at 49, you would definitely be feeling good. So, yeah, well, getting back to your question, because the first square after the return is moving up, it's moving forward. And if you're looking at the moon, the moon is waxing at this particular time. So if you want to put that with the Saturn, it is a waxing Saturn. And so I want to say that Saturn is moving forward at the waxing times.
And so everything that you might be assessing over this period of time, or everything that you might be being able to come into a place where you're really looking at your life and how much of your life is in your hands and how much isn't, is it's all about where I'm moving forward. Where am I going? And it's all about taking more on that feeling, I'll buy one more in life. And I'm heading towards something more coming up the mountain. Now, the third quarter square, the one in between the opposition and going back to the return again, it's a waning square. It's the waning square. So it's a releasing point.
I want to say, Saturn is big on color. Saturn's a big color. Saturn looks at everything and goes, why is that still in your life? What's that going, what's that doing there? Why are you still talking about that? Why is that person still? Saturn's always going, is it working for you? That Saturn isn't working for you. And if it's not, get it out. Saturn's that cut and dried. If it's not working for you, if it's pulling you down, if it's making you upset, get it out. That's what Saturn says. Mark Rick Levine, you know, we've featured him on this platform. I love it. Over the years. Yes. He one time said that words with ST often correlate with Saturn qualities.
And as you were speaking, I was thinking, oh, that's to be streamlined. And that's a, it's a new ST word in terms of stoic and all these, there's other Saturn words that he uses. But streamline, it sounds like Saturn is wanting us to just not have any dead weight, not have any extraneous things that are unnecessary as we're forward. Totally. Okay. Saturn gets everything down to the bare bone. Saturn doesn't like, yeah, Saturn doesn't like anything that's hanging around for the sake of it. It wants to get everything. And the bones are Saturn rules our bones. Saturn rules the structure of what we are. And who and everything on the bone, which is the whole idea of the bone, the actual bone when all the meats taken away, we've still got the bone. And even after we're finished with our bodies, our bones, other things that still remain. So you can see how the bones are strengthened.
I love Rick with his ST words, because strength and stamina, yeah, streamlining. Yeah. You just said another one too. There's a lot. Actually, it's a fun game when you start to think about it and think of all the Saturn words. Okay. We're going to be going really deep into the cycles in the workshop that we're doing. Yeah, potential. You're going to be teaching next week, which is amazing. Hi, friends. If you are loving this conversation and it's bringing up some questions for you about your own Saturn journey, I would love to extend an invitation to you to Mark's upcoming live Saturn cycles webinar happening here at Astrology Hub on Tuesday, March 3rd.
Mark is going to guide you step by step on how to calculate your Saturn cycles. How to identify which phase you're in right now. And what each threshold is inviting you into. He'll also walk you through real chart examples. So you can see how Saturn weed story across an entire lifetime, not just at the Saturn return. This webinar is an opportunity to start consciously working with these important chapters in your life and identify exactly what they mean for you. We will also be hosting a live Q&A as part of this webinar series so you can have the opportunity to ask your questions and dive even deeper into Mark's teachings. And even if you can't make it live, we will be releasing replays of these sessions and you will have lifetime access to the recordings.
To learn more, head to astrology Hub.com slash Saturn cycles. We're also going to drop that link in the show notes. I can't wait to see you there. And now back to the episode. So tell us a little bit about Saturn transits and what are the biggest Saturn transits, for example, like when Saturn's doing what? Is it a big deal in your chart? And will we all experience Saturn transits throughout our life? Yeah. Yeah. Everyone's going to have a Saturn transits because Saturn moves right around the chart as we all know in 29 years. So in that 29 years, Saturn is going to go right around and heat every single planet. It's going to make conjunctions to every planet or position square.
So whatever planet Saturn, of course, Saturn takes two and a half years to go through a sign. Okay. So whatever planet that Saturn is going to be making an aspect to, it's going to be there for a while because Saturn generally goes over the planet and then retrogrades back over it again and then does another forward over at the top of it. So if a planet is in aspect while it's doing that, it couldn't be the best part of a year, sometimes even more with this Saturn energy coming onto that particular planet. Now, what I want to say is whatever planet it is, and I want to say the Sun and the Moon and the personal planets, but particularly the Sun and the Moon, the personal planets, the Mercury Venus and Mars, they are going to feel it the most because we're going to feel it really strongly as humans, as people.
Saturn going over the outer is more collective, you're still going to feel it. You'll still feel Saturn going over your Uranus or Saturn going over your Pluto. You'll still feel it, but it's collective. Everybody born around the time you were born are all going through the same thing. It's going to be much more personal with your Sun, your Moon, your Mercury Venus and Mars. So what it's actually doing, it's actually coming into a place of you asking you how much are you owning this planet? How much are you really owning this planet? How much is this planet directed in a way that's heading towards something that looks beneficial, that looks useful, that looks productive, that looks, that looks like it's going to be a big part of your master plan, and if you're still allowing other people to walk all over this planet, then what will happen is that, and this is why Saturn has often got called the Malefic.
If you're not using that planet in a way that's going to be useful and beneficial to you and you owning it and taking charge of it, what will happen is the way you're playing that planet, it might be dysfunctionally, the way you're playing that planet, at that time will become even more, it'll become tighter, it'll become even more tighter, it'll become even more because that's the only way Saturn is going to get you to do something about it. Because for instance, if it is your Moon, it settles on your Moon and you're still emotionally giving yourself away, you're still allowing, you're still needy, you're still codependent, you're still dealing emotionally with other people's stuff and taking responsibility for all their stuff and getting drowned emotionally by everything and everyone around you, Saturn will actually come to a place where that will become even tighter for you, it'll become even more challenging for you or more restrictive for you in a way,
it'll feel like, oh my god, if my daughter rings me one more time about all her crap and expects me to do something about it, if she I'm going to scream because Saturn's actually saying, you've got to let your daughter know that she's a big girl now, she's got to actually work it out herself, she's got to actually find a way of being able to whatever her dilemma is, you've got to actually say, honey, I'm not helping you by running over to your place all the time and fixing you, I'm not helping you, by enabling you, I'm not helping you, so I've got to let you do it, I've got to let you find out a way of doing this yourself and Saturn is saying, that's what I want you to do.
It's like Saturn wants us to become the tough love parent in that situation, right? The other thing that I'm curious about is does it matter or how much does it change Saturn's tough love conversation with you if it's conjunct or square or posing, does the aspect itself change it that much or is it the same drum beat that Saturn is playing for you? You mean would a Saturn conjunct a planet be different to Saturn's querying a planet? Is that what you're saying? Yeah, it kind of like how different, is it basically Saturn saying the same thing where you take in responsibility, where you giving your power away, where you still immature, is that basically Saturn's conversation with us all the time?
Pretty much so, pretty much so, I mean there won't be a huge difference because you'll still be going through a Saturn experience, there will be a Saturn experience whether it's conjunct, square or opposition. Sometimes I find the oppositions, not all the time, but sometimes they'll come in via something opposite you, a person, they'll come in in a way where you could be challenged directly from somebody else. Squares, to me the Saturn squares always feel it rubs up against, it's like a friction kind of thing, it's like a rough material rubbing up against your skin and it feels like you have to, oh, I have to get this jacket off, it's really that kind of feeling.
So there's an irritation of sorts that comes with a square, but I want to say when you're doing a Saturn, when a Saturn is in aspect to any parts of your chart, your natal chart, the other side of that, the other side of that, what you get from that, when you actually start to go, no, I'm responsible for me in this situation, I'm responsible for how I'm dealing with it, how I'm reacting to it, I realize the way I deal with it is not working, I realize the way I deal with it is only dragging me down and making it hard for me.
So fixing that and healing that and coming to a place of actually going, no, I'm not going to be doing that anymore, I'm going to actually come to a place now, well, I realize that it's up to me in the end, it's all of the balls in my court in the end. On the other side of that is a feeling of being able to head into life and go further into life with that feeling of freedom doesn't get talked about with Saturn or that much, you hear freedom, a lot with Uranus and freedom, a lot with even with Jupiter, but that feeling of you looking after yourself and doing what you need to do in your life for your reasons, not feeling, not having to be responsible for everything else that's going on around you, there's a sense of freedom that comes with that, there's a sense of freedom that comes with being your boss, your own boss, your own CEO, it's a different form of freedom that it is.
Yeah, we'll also freedom through discipline, right? The Saturn can teach us that within levels of discipline we can actually experience more freedom in our lives. Exactly. Yeah. And the discipline comes from, sorry, amended, the discipline comes from just using that scenario about my daughter who always drags me into problems, the discipline comes from you still not giving in, she'll try again and she'll try again and she'll try again and there might be a part of you that goes, I can't, I'm going to I'm going to go over and the discipline is on you, disciplining yourself enough to actually go know you'll be back in the same boat if you do that. So the discipline is to stay strong, to stay strong, allow her to do what she needs to do.
It's like we do that to Saturn. Like Saturn's actually trying to help us to grow up and become responsible human beings who are living the life we came here to live. That's right. You know, we've all had to do that in our lives, there's certain people we've had to create boundaries around and in the moment we might feel mean and they might think we're mean. But we know that we're doing it because either it's a self-love thing and it's love of the other person just wanting not wanting to enable people to stay in their smaller selves, right?
That's what Saturn's doing for us all the time. That's exactly it. Okay. So again, you can go and check the link in the show notes for that. And then Mark, let's talk about your Pisces lunar cycle in the inner circle and your mastery class on the nodes, the lunar nodes. What are we going to be learning about there? So the mastery class on the nodes, I'm a big nodes fan, people who know my work, I'm always going to be the nodes. I start with the nodes in readings, they're always up first or very, very close to it.
The nodes are so important in our lives. As a lot of us already know, the South note carries energy from what we know from before. Is it reincarnation? Is it down the family? Whatever it is, it is stuff that we know from before and we bring it in again. And it feels in a way that this particular energy, it's not that it was wrong or was not that was bad. And we could have done it well, but it could have been over in emphasize, but it has to be done differently.
It has to be done differently this time. And the north node, which is uncharted territory, is pointing in a direction that is going to be so helpful for us. It's very different to what we know, we're very different to what we're used to. And it feels very much like if I had you in that direction, if I try to integrate that, it feels like my life becomes fuller. It feels like all of a sudden my life really feels more complete now. It feels a little bit like the South node was keeping it in that area, in that half-life area.
And I feel like the rest of my life, not necessarily neglected, but I just didn't, probably didn't have much time for it. And this time, it feels like this is what I need. And so everything balances with the nodes. Everything comes into balance. So you're getting the two sides, you're getting the two sides of your life activating. And it's about you being able to feel the whole chart actually starts to feel more full.
Whereas people, be free of feel more alive, more complete, rather than just concentrating on one part about charts, we're actually now bringing the whole chart into the story, into the game. Yeah. Well, you'd be talking about the rulers of the nodes and their placement means in the implementation. Yes. I'm doing all the rulers of the nodes, and all the planets that are in aspect to the nodes too. Wow.
And play aspect to the rulers of the nodes. So there is quite a technique involved with being able to really understand the nodes in a chart, because there are a lot of planets involved. It's not just the north node in the South node. It's the rulers of the signs. So where are they in your charts? And they're going to be playing out because if the ruler of say you have a Libro self node, then the Venus will be the ruler.
So wherever Venus is in your chart, she's played out before. She's connected to the South node. So wherever she's played out before. So we're going to look at her. We're going to look at how she might have played out before and how she can actually play out at gun this time. And she might have Mars in opposition in your later chart. So that Mars in opposition also comes in with the story that's been played out before.
Of course, they're going to be played out again in the chart this time around. But that Mars Venus opposition has been played out before because she's connected to the South node. So there is a technique and I'm going to be taking people through that. So how they do that's fascinating. So every year you guys, I choose an astrologer to give me a birthday reading. Like I always it's and it's I think it through and it's a big decision for me because I like to have a reading once a year around my birthday.
And this year I was like, Mark, I would love if Mark could give me a reading. And the insights that he gave me, I mean, it was brilliant. All of it. And he started with the lunar node story. And it was fascinating to hear the way that he was weaving, not just the nodal axis, but then the rulers of my no axis and then a storyline that I have recently been privy to that feels like past life memory and how that's playing out in this lifetime is fascinating. So I'm so excited for people to get more and more skilled at interpreting the lunar nodes and in their own charts. And then if they recharge for other people that it just seems like a really amazing entry point into the conversation about someone's life in purpose. And also some of the challenges they may have in this life. So yes, very exciting.
Mark, anything else you want to say in closing as it pertains to Saturn? What I want to say in closing as far Saturn is concerned is our life really is ours. Our life is ours for the making. Everything that we do in our life, we are in the driver's seat of our lives. And I don't think many people really get that or really know that this authority figures is governments, his parents, there's things outside of us that we're going to have to salute all our lives that we become employees.
And Saturn is actually going, you don't have to have anybody as your boss. You are your boss. So I want to say that for Saturn and there is work involved in this. I'm not pretending Saturn's a walk in the park. As I said, I have Saturn in a grand cross with my son, and a senator. So it's not a walk in the park. But I want to say when you do focus on it and when you do put your attention on only your life getting into the driver's seat of what's going on. All of a sudden, all of a sudden, it feels like your world becomes oyster in a way.
It feels like I can take my life to wherever I need to go now. And anything that tries to come in my way or anything that tries to distract me or anything that tries to pull me off track, I just have to like my strength of character, my truth, my honesty, my integrity, these are all good Saturn words. I'm going to keep me going to keep me on the straightener. Are they going to keep me plowing on? They're going to keep me plowing through to become the person I really, really want to become this lifetime. And I'm not allowing, in other words, I'm not allowing anybody else or anything else to get in the way of me really accomplishing what I'm here to do.
So it's work, it's discipline, it is, it's focus. It's all those things. But on the other side of that is such a wonderful feeling of being able to look at yourself in the mirror and really, really like the person that looks back. Yes. And aren't we so lucky as astrology students, we get to be aware of these things so we can actively participate in it and really make the most of these different Saturn moments in our life. I love that.
