Apologies about the end of Wednesday's video I accidentally deleted a clip so that part became very confusing I was just highlighting that a couple days ago Elon responded to a post to mine on X saying bizarre so many people still believe the media I wanted to address this because some folks were saying I was a hypocrite because some of the sources that I cited for what I said in the Original post were actually mainstream media articles and then from there the rest of my justification made it into Wednesday's episode If you missed it and you want to find out on there not being a video yesterday I told myself a while back. I was never going to force content out there Now it's not great for me when I don't upload as I do like getting paid But if there's not enough news to make a video that has some substance to it Then I told myself I wouldn't make a video You can always check the community tab for updates But the plan is definitely still five videos per week going forward But if here and there the news doesn't really allow for that I'm not going to selfishly put something out there just so I can get paid

data from S&P Global is saying ED registrations are up 18% in July compared to the same month last year and Tesla delivered 5175 cyber trucks in the month while other ED pickups combined sold just 5,546 which is indeed promising if Tesla can actually offer a cyber truck for 80,000 dollars or less They said during the month consumers that bought the Kia EV 9 got over $19,700 per car in discounts I really don't like magnifying one month one market data But I know we're all eager to hear about cyber truck sales They also said in the first seven months of this year ED registrations grew by 8.7% capturing a 7.6% market share up from 7.2% during the same time last year 8.7% growth is not the 20 to 30% I think many of us are hoping for but it's also not negative 30% like many would have you believe and from the EIA at the end of Quarter two when you include hybrid data that takes the market share to 19% through the first half of the year for most of last year that number was between 12 and 15% Here's a table with July registrations in the US Tesla up 1.2% over the same month last year followed by Ford in second and then Chevy and BMW and Third and fourth. I'm not sure exactly what this data point is worth But it's accurate to say in July the cyber truck had more sales than the entire Rivian brand combined as Rivian came in at 4,545

there was a post on reddit that has since been taken down and the user deleted his profile But Matthew dr found it before that happened and shared it on X Here's the image the chatter is that this is Tesla testing the cyber cab at the Warner Brothers studios And it looks like there's a model 3 trailing it I have to say the word is that the reddit user that shared this image is an employee at Warner Brothers But that has not actually been confirmed either way Let's just assume that's exactly what this is the yellow could be a nod to the cab of old and clearly in my opinion Tesla has something under the yellow here to actually distort what the actual cyber cab will look like meaning if you were to just Continue this natural slope. That's likely what we should be expecting. Is it possible? This could be part of the design for storage or luggage something like that sure But how likely is it? I would say not very personally I keep coming back to this image and I would hope that behind the seats of this two-door concept There would be room for luggage in the back. That's without this boxy design Also on the front you see this indentation right between the headlights seems to be distorted and I have to say the rear wheels Do actually look bigger if you look closely, but I think there's a chance It's just the perspective of this photo. It does appear to be a two-door It's pretty tough to see through the windshield to tell if there's a steering wheel or anything like that and we're less than a month away We've already waited so long so I'm not going to get too carried away with this But it's intriguing for sure and while everyone is understandably focused on the cyber cab We can't forget that Tesla is also widely expected to launch a more affordable vehicle on the existing production lines So there should actually be a smaller Tesla vehicle that's not the cyber cab that will have a steering wheel

Which is why I said I can't tell if this is that vehicle But my hope is that it's not because selfishly I would like that more affordable vehicle to still have four doors Spoken as someone who used to own a two-door vehicle I thought it was awesome for about two weeks and then I had had enough The original reddit post did say that the back end of this vehicle had a full width Tail light similar to what the cyber truck has so yeah I would not be fooled by this shape But I think it would be hilarious if at the event Tesla were to roll out this exact vehicle acting as if it was the real model If they tried to play that off for even like 30 seconds I think it would be hilarious kind of like this how it's going post from Pete on X and for whatever it's worth Rebecca Tanucci who used to work at Tesla overseeing Charging shared an article that was titled one of Tesla's big cool ideas may finally come to reality She's actually the one that gave the presentation that had the picture of the wireless charging mat under the Tesla in a garage I'm very confident. This is coming to Tesla eventually It's just a matter of when two accounts that I'm confident would share the truth of their experience about FSD 12.5 Have talked about it on hardware 3 Jordan from the limiting factor said it's a regression for me probably back beyond FSD 12.3.6 the main reason it's just too unpredictable is he worried about it? No, but there are some other quirks that he doesn't like and overall it's felt like a step back Then Scott Walter said first impression is lots of regressions and unsafe following distances He went on to share a handful of things that he doesn't like Concluding with I'll be doing the driving more myself now. I don't like it. I don't trust it I prefer 12.3.6 two reasons I wanted to share these one to keep our expectations in check and two I know a lot of people out there are still frustrated They don't have 12.5 yet stuck on 12.3 But it may be in your best interest to be stuck and usually if you're waiting for an update There's a good reason for it So just keep that in mind and remember as always FSD experiences region to region are going to vary widely

Also, this is Tesla's first attempt with this quantized compressed model for hardware 3 I'm sure there will be a ton of learnings and hopefully in the weeks and months ahead they can figure it out I say that because long term it'll be a great skill for Tesla to have in its bag of tricks But we have to remember 12.5.2 is supposed to be on AI3 as a unified model Keys on X who has been following the autonomous Regulations across Europe closer than anybody else I found gave us a great update shockingly the regulatory bodies are making rapid progress There's been changes to these system initiated maneuvers So these updates would allow FSD to make autonomous lane changes to merge and do other things without needing prior driver confirmation another development is the proposed amendments with regard to the HOR or hands-on Request in America what we call the NAG There's a chance with these proposals at least on the highways that there would be no NAG for FSD across Europe And he said the upcoming GRVA sessions in September will finalize some of these critical changes Tesla has to be in the regulator's ears because you may recall just earlier this year They were planning on not allowing for system initiated changes Which is effectively all of FSD could you imagine if every time your car needed to turn or change lanes or merge? You had to confirm that that maneuver was okay Even if FSD was allowed on the streets people wouldn't buy it because it wouldn't be good to use It's quite an encouraging update and I did go through the actual source document itself So I'll have this linked below if you're interested

In one of the more interesting updates lately Tesla is now asking for bids on its virtual power plant in South Australia. It's currently a network of about 7,000 household batteries. Tesla is sending around a sales flyer to prospective buyers and they're saying the VPP has 35 megawatts of capacity. Most of it around 70% is paired with rooftop solar about 25 megawatts. All of the systems are installed in public housing.

I'll pause here because I know many people are asking well, What is Tesla actually selling if these power walls are on the homes of owners? You may remember a few years back Elon basically set out to single-handedly help fix some of the electricity costs in South Australia. In a deal with the government at no cost to the resident Tesla was supposed to turn around 50,000 homes into part of this VPP. Each home was supposed to get a 5kW solar and a power wall too. The word at the time was that this program would be funded entirely by the sale of excess electricity. But my point here is that the homeowners never actually owned these systems. It appears as though Tesla has maintained ownership.

Tesla says there's an opportunity to grow the system but Tesla wants to remain as the supplier of the battery products aka power wall. And it looks like Tesla still wants to control the software when it comes to auto-bitter. Plus Tesla still wants to do the installations. Of course, there's still room to grow the system because years ago they were planning on 50,000 homes. And fast forward to this year and it's only at 7,000. Tesla's choice to sell these VPP assets is not expected to have any impact on Tesla's plans to launch its own retail energy business in Australia. Any deal here will be separate from Tesla's electric. Tesla is looking for offers starting this month and they're hoping to conclude a sale by the end of the year.

This obviously is not going to be some major windfall financially for Tesla. But I think it's more interesting when it comes to M&A in the renewable energy space. If companies in partnership with governments can outfit large groups of homes with solar and batteries. And then years later actually sell those assets to a bigger utility or something like that. It creates a new avenue of opportunity. Fun fact Shell has already bought a few different virtual power plants one in Italy. Not only that but Shell bought a UK based VPP company in 2019 and a German based one in 2021. Why is Tesla doing this? My guess is they're just looking to consolidate their business model and really laser focus their efforts going forward.

Here we have multiple companies turning down money from the government. Piedmont became the fifth US company to abandon funds provided under the IRA. Collectively these companies have left more than $730 million in tentative grants and an undetermined amount of subsidized loans on the table. The money that was earmarked for Piedmont was supposed to be for a lithium processing plant in Tennessee. But since those grants were announced Piedmont is now saying that the cost to build this site have risen by hundreds of millions of dollars. Simultaneously as we've been highlighting the price of lithium is plunging. In short rising costs paired with falling lithium prices make this business model much more unattractive.

Piedmont CEO said ultimately higher lithium prices will be required to support the development of Lithium projects, hours, and others that will be necessary to meet projected demand. Fundamentally the industry needs stronger pricing for big projects to be built full stop. That's across the board it's not a Piedmont matter. Which brings us to Tesla and its upcoming lithium refinery in Corpus Christi. It'll be interesting to see if there are any delays or anything with that plant. It's already a bit behind schedule but maybe there's a good reason that Tesla is taking it slow. Just so you know the other companies also not taking money, applied materials. They were going to build a lithium metal foil plant. Ampreus was going to build a silicon nano wire manufacturing plant. Lilac solutions was going to work on a lithium extraction process. And Saraw resources is now reconsidering its plans for a graphite processing facility.

By and large I think most people hear lower lithium prices and get excited because they think battery prices will come down. Which there's certainly some truth to but there's another side of the coin as well. Tesla charging said a more granular overview of upcoming supercharger sites is now live. This includes locations that are under construction or will be soon. We plan on updating this monthly. Example on the supercharger map if you zoom in you can see some of these sites and this one In Lake Okichobie, Florida was a voting winner and is in development. Max who works on supercharging at Tesla said we're also working on longer-term superchargers. But this is a great overview already of most openings in the next 18 months.

I've been waiting on an update for that Tesla semi crash that led to that. fire that got a lot of coverage and we finally got one But all they said the truck was not operating on one of Tesla's automated driving systems They were not operational and could not be engaged The crash happened at 3.13 am and the semi left the road while going around a curve to the right and hit a tree Maybe drowsiness that's my speculation but the NTSB said all aspects of the crash are under investigation Translation we're still waiting for the cause

Okay, so what does tesla do different? well instead of 70 ECUs spread around the car and Associated cross car wiring going to many of them Tesla instead has six master controllers also known as zone controllers Which are placed in strategic locations such as a left front central MCU right controller Rear controller and there's a couple of other important ones the high voltage controller and the autopilot Each of these controllers is connected via an ether loop network.
