In a regulatory filing today, we learned that XAI is looking to raise up to $1 billion in an equity offering. We got the Tesla China weekly insurance number. It came in at $17,400. I know that car news China has it at $17,600, but when you add up the Model 3 and Y and pair that with Roland's numbers, I think the correct number is $17,400, even if it's not, we'll go with that to be conservative. Here's that number plugged into the table. If you wanted to compare it to the same week in Quarter 3, that number was $11,800. So, through the first 9 weeks of Quarter 3, we were at $101,000, which means this is now the first time in Quarter 4 that we have surpassed. That rate as through the first 9 weeks of Quarter 4, we're now at $104.5,000. We're now ahead of the Q3 pace, but it is interesting that the Model 3 ramp is still holding steady right around that 33-3500 mark. It's been the Model Y growth where this number has been increasing. As we said though, all throughout the month of November, the month to watch when it comes to Model 3 plus deliveries domestically in China is going to be December, so it's kicked off with a very strong reading.

Before we touch on this interview between Elon and Sandy, I've seen a fair number of people saying that Sandy's just not a great interviewer complaining that they talked about things that we already know about, and Sandy took some time to kind of share some personal anecdotes, not valuing that time as well as he could have. When it comes to extracting data from Elon in his limited public time, I totally understand the sentiment. I also want to share maybe another side that toward the end of this interview really became apparent. If you watched closely, Sandy was almost on the verge of tears when he thought about how much he appreciates not only Elon's engineering genius and him taking risks being a strong leader who pushes, but also when he stands up for the truth and what he's doing when it comes to free speech. And it's because Sandy's been around and he knows the importance of what Elon is actually doing. Simply put, it was plain as day that Sandy has such a deep, genuine appreciation for Elon and he just wanted to express that to Elon as best as he could.

They did touch on some points we've already made, like the 48-volt system and much less wiring, much less copper, much smaller wire harnesses being required. Then Elon did nerd out a little bit when it came to moving to Ethernet over Canbus, which allows for much higher data rates than typical Canbus on other vehicles. He said he don't need as many point-to-point wires with a high bandwidth bus, not being constrained by the data rate. If the data rate per wire is low with a Canbus, you need many point-to-point wires, whereas if you have a high data rate like Ethernet, you can just attach to the bus and not worry about latency or data loss. Elon did say making these changes though is pretty obvious, he's really just bringing cars into the 21st century. We've had Ethernet for a long time. Nothing really has prevented the car industry from doing this and Elon just said it's making the obvious moves, bringing car electronics to 2023.

A lot of people out there seem to be frustrated here with Tesla's progress, but it seems like they're lacking the broader context. A conclusion I agree with, he said anyone who claims 4680s a failure because Tesla's behind its own ridiculous benchmark it set for itself is not serious and needs to broaden their perspective. That perspective being that Tesla has built this 4680 project from the ground up from conception to final production. As I said, just last week, this is hard for even pure battery makers to do. And yes, it'll take longer for Tesla to hit their own targets. But the only reason they're at where they're at today is because they set those initial targets so high in the first place.

If you really want to get into the weeds on these documents, there was a pretty solid post on Reddit going over some of the main takeaways. I'll have it linked below if you're interested doing some back of the napkin math of my own. If you take the pack weight and then divide that by the energy capacity of 122.4 kilowatt hours, that would be a multiplier of 12.96. If you then multiply that by 50 kilowatt hours, which is supposed to be the size of the range extender, that would be a weight in the neighborhood of 648 pounds.

Now obviously, the range extender is not going to be this heavy because it's not going to have all of the rest of the parts of the main battery pack. However, just based on the weight of the cells alone, the range extender could be anywhere from 350 to 500 pounds. This will prevent Tesla from circumventing this blockade by Swedish dock workers who have halted shipments by sea.

Not only is neighboring Denmark joining in on the sympathy strike, but we have Finland and their transport workers union meeting on Thursday to decide how it will respond to the Swedish unions asking them for help. Now we have Danish dock workers, Norwegian dock workers, Swedish dock workers, all joining in on these strikes with Finland now considering getting involved all the while we only have a handful of actual Tesla mechanics that are joining in on the strike. Most of the Tesla employees are still working as normal. The Norwegian unions are also examining whether to organize their Tesla workers in Norway. The leader of Denmark's largest union is now saying solidarity is the cornerstone of the trade union movement and extends across borders.

Looking at sales in Sweden's Scandinavian neighbors markets for 2022 in Norway, Tesla sold 21.3 thousand vehicles, which was more than Sweden itself back in 2022 where they were at about 7500 for the year. You may recall earlier this year talking about Tesla already selling more Model Y's in Denmark this year than any other car in the country's history. My point if all of these Nordic countries end up joining in the sympathy strikes that could be roughly around 100,000 units of volume that are involved in this situation per year. This year out of Tesla's 1.8 million expected deliveries, that's about 5.5%. At this point, I still don't see either side capitulating here so most likely Tesla is just going to keep circumventing these actions by these sympathy strikes. The question is how long can they do that for before enough is enough?

To top it all off, we have a Swedish source reporting that Tesla put out a press release saying they're actually going to expand in Sweden. Nowhere at all do they mention the strike. Nicolas on X added some context. Tesla is opening a new service center that will increase the level of service significantly. Tesla also said they have 40 technicians that travel around to customers throughout Sweden and can perform up to 80% of all cases outside the service centers. And they said it's easy to pick up your car at one of the company's delivery centers. It is pretty wild that this multi-country attack on Tesla can take place, but so far Tesla is standing its ground and pushing back.

Lamborghini just reached a new deal with unions to introduce a four-day workweek for its production workers. Not only are they cutting the hours but they're also raising the wages. Productivity on a four-day workweek will be all over the map depending on who you ask, but I do have friends on a four-day workweek and they love it. I have a strong sense that come 2028 UAW negotiations. This is going to be back on the table for the big three. For Lamborghini, it'll be a rotating two-shift schedule. They'll alternate a five-day week with a four-day week. So overall they'll cut 22 days of work every year.

Mary Barra just confirmed that the next-gen Chevy Bolt is going to arrive in 2025 and it's going to move to the Altium platform. GM did say it'll be buying LFP cells for the new Bolt and it'll be built at a lower cost and on a faster timeline. But GM has said they're no longer going to provide EV production targets other than they're looking to have a million units of capacity in North America come 2025. On the cruise front, Mary Barra said the safety review should be completed in the first quarter. I'm not going to rush either of them. We want to be thorough in what we do and informed because that will then dictate how we go forward from a resource perspective and more importantly from a technology perspective. It'll most likely be quarter one of next year when we learn that cruise is going to operate as a shell of itself like I've been saying now for weeks. As far as we've heard, this new Chevy Bolt is supposed to be built in Kansas after a $391 million factory upgrade. As Alexandra highlighted, just as GM is doing that $10 billion share buyback, they're also raising $3 billion with a debt offering. You can't make this stuff up.

Lucidair is taking a page right out of the Tesla playbook and is simplifying its model lineup. They're going to be offering lower pricing, different customization options and their discontinuing a number of variants. Canadian pricing will be announced on Wednesday. For 2024, Lucid will only offer three air variants, the Pure, the Touring and the Grand Touring. The Air Grand Touring performance has been discontinued. Customers will however have more options when it comes to customization and adding features. Additionally, Lucid has added new comfort and convenience packages. Lucid still searching for sales and I'm not sure that these changes with a $77.4 thousand dollar entry price are going to be enough.

Toyota has revealed two new full BEV concepts. However, they're insisting that these will be formally introduced as real cars within the next two years starting in Europe. We're looking at an SUV and a sport crossover. This is part of Toyota's plans to launch six new full BEVs in Europe by 2026.

Meanwhile, Ford has been backing off its original plans, reducing the number of expected jobs from $2,500 down to $1,700. And the word is Michigan's contribution to the project could be nearly as much as what Ford plans to spend on its own factory. Just so you know, this award is coming from the Center for Economic Accountability, who claims to be independent and non-profit. However, we all know what happens when organizations rely on donors, whether intentionally or not. Just know before I say this, there's a lot of ice money in Michigan. Just putting it out there. The CEA president said it's notable that in five years we've now had two electric vehicle battery plants and one EV assembly plant stand out as the worst economic development deals of their respective years. Translation, Legacy Auto has been gifted billions of dollars in funding to make something happen with EVs and so far they've fumbled the rock.
