Despite all of the pushback today Texas made it official they are going to mandate that these charging companies include Tesla's NACS connector for all charging stations if they want any of those federal dollars up for grabs that are being distributed locally through the states. Washington state is considering something similar Kentucky has already mandated this very thing and in Texas the commission voted unanimously to approve the plan. So yes the CCS plugs are still required that's a federal mandate but now each individual state has the option to add additional requirements and that's what some are doing with the NACS. Texas is set to get just over 400 million dollars to deploy for these purposes over the next five years.

I know there are a lot of folks out there complaining about the increasing registration fees for electric vehicles by state. These are mostly to replace some of the gas tax that will be lost. Currently we have about 30 states that have decided to implement these EV registration fees.

Real quick on the new S and X variants we do have multiple Tesla showrooms confirming that these new variants are indeed software limited meaning no new battery pack, no LFP. Which yes means these will be the same S and X vehicles just with lower margins. That does keep production simple but I would also add just because Tesla isn't planning to offer software upgrades for these cars now does not mean that they won't do it at some point in the future. I'd also add I think there's a world where Tesla tests the demand for these new vehicles at these price points and if things were to go really well then in the future maybe they do create a new battery pack for these variants that's ultimately cheaper and not software limited saving Tesla some of those battery cells.

And for anyone that needs to hear it the strategy is still lower prices across the lineup increase the adoption then when they solve for autonomy turn on FSD sales on that bigger fleet and it's all gravy. I don't even really like gravy though so now we have the CNEV post who historically has been pretty accurate adding fire to these highland rumors saying today Project Highland expected to go on sale in China within a half a month. Meanwhile some of Tesla's stores have begun accepting reservations for the revamped model three from Chinese customers. This one admittedly is odd in China a salesperson was saying customers who pay a thousand R&B for a reservation now can choose a vehicle that has already been produced or wait for other models including the highland 1000 R&B is roughly a hundred and forty dollars. We already talked about the one thousand dollar insurance subsidy for inventory model threes now they're saying if customers choose to wait for the highland they can still enjoy the same 3500 R&B referral bonus for deliveries within 60 days which is about 500 US dollars.

What do we think about these secret reservations? I don't know we do have Tesla chan sharing some other sources that confirm the same things but then we have Elleena who has been a source reporting on this topic with some good info saying it's inconsistent with info from other sources the model three refresh has not been filed with the M.I.I.T. so it's not likely legally to sell within 15 days but even if it's not in the next two weeks which I was never expecting anyways from day one it's really been September that's been the target and for me that's still what I'm expecting.

Over the last 24 hours we have multiple sightings of cyber trucks traveling across the country. Here we saw three traveling through Tucson Arizona may be heading toward Fremont from gigatexis. Here's a post from Coleslaw showing us two cyber trucks heading northbound on I-55 in Missouri. As you can see both have the front bumper and front area covered up. Then we got a few photos from Steven when the cyber trucks were in low noke Arkansas. Here's the tire size for those interested. Here's a good shot inside the wheel well. I'd also add there are some rumors out there there's a cyber truck supplier somewhere in Arkansas which is where some of these cyber trucks could have been headed. Here's a shot of the back and here's a shot of the interior with a slot for two cell phones right here I would imagine with wireless charging and we have this condensed steering wheel with a flat top and bottom and I thought this one was interesting with this massive seemingly elevated dash section with what looks like a material that may be an Alcantara suede type of finish as you can see the fingerprints and marks throughout. And to add to the confusion one of the windows had this writing on it where I think it said completed crash ready and for whatever it may be worth the IIHS does have a crash test location in Ruckersville, Virginia. Personally I'd be surprised if these were already done with the crash testing because it doesn't look like the front is as damaged as it would be but for the usual let the speculation fly below I would love to hear your thoughts.

And this morning we got this image from Joe Tettmeyer of the cyber truck with three of the doors open and it's still pretty weird to see how far back the driver is relative to the front of the vehicle and this massive dash.

Jaguar is set to retire the eyepace brand in 2025 not sure it was that popular the CEO said now we're waiting for the confidence in JEA just the platform for their next gen electric vehicles right now people are telling me it's going to be in the first half of 2025 just under two years away I'd be more confident in that response when we're nine to 12 months away the eyepace which never really caught on will ultimately just be a testing of the waters for Jaguar in their EV future.

One of Tesla's major suppliers CATL just did a presentation announcing some new fast charging battery tech the battery dubbed Shen Xing or godlike movement is able to refuel or recharge 250 miles of range in 10 minutes mass production of the battery expected to be underway by the end of 2023 shipping to begin in 2024 it claims to be the world's first four C super fast charging LFP battery don't forget one C means it's going to be charged fully in one hour whatever the battery capacity actually is thus a C rating or a current rating of four C would mean charging the battery whatever the capacity is to full in about 15 minutes so this Shen Xing battery in the upcoming compact vehicle for Tesla would be a beautiful thing just keep in mind that statements like 250 miles in 10 minutes depends on so many things the pack size the charger capability the on board electronics so claims like this are usually best case scenario marketing type claims despite that though maybe before charging a CATL LFP pack would take around 25 or 30 minutes to charge the heart of the battery taking that down to 10 minutes would definitely be a very nice improvement.

The market is nothing if not entertaining as we have Vin fast who just went public via a spec and they hit over 80 billion dollars in valuation on the first day of trading yesterday which means yes temporarily it had a market cap bigger than GM and Ford it's now trading under the ticker VFS and it's 255 percent gain from the closing price of the spec on Monday makes it the top performing despac to debut this year on a US exchange. This D SPAC is really just a more technical term it's just when a private company like Vin fast was actually merges with a public SPAC company and then ultimately goes public more than 90 percent of the SPACs investors pulled their money out of the deal before it was completed despite being down over 18 percent today somehow we have Vin fast still being valued at 69 billion dollars from a market cap perspective.
