On the afternoon of May 20, 2013, a meteorological monster descends upon the town of
Moore, Oklahoma. A massive, howling tornado rated an EF5 on the Fujitsu Scale with winds at a staggering 340km/h (210 mph) pulverizes a vast swath of Moore Oklahoma’s suburbs. The tornado chews up homes and businesses and severely damages a hospital and two elementary schools. It carves a deadly trail 1.3 miles wide and 17 miles long. By the time this murderous twister disappears into thin air, it claims 24 lives and causes an estimated $2 billion in property damage, leaving Moore forever changed.

In the early morning hours of September 10, 2009, after several days of torrential rainfall from a historic storm front that stalls over the city of Istanbul, the saying manifests into a massive wall of water that suddenly envelops a population on its way to work. With zero time to move out of the way, buses and cars are instantly swamped in this low lying ancient city. Panicked commuters are no match for the raging current and many are instantly washed into the Sea of Marmara. Thousands more will be rescued in what officials call the worst disaster in 100 years.
