What does it mean to be a man or a woman, a boy or a girl in India? What role do gender stereotypes have on Indian society and personal identity?
‘It Happens Only In India’ was a film shorts competition and a collaboration between Scroll.in and DW. Participants told stories on the theme of India through a visual medium. The project aimed to document different and unique aspects of Indian culture and lifestyle, showcasing interesting stories from all over the country. Anyone was allowed to take part in the competition.

‘Don’t Call me a Woman’ – Frank Röhrig
‘The Parlour Boys’ – Sharon Fernandes, Akanksha Sood Singh & Sanjiv ‘Goose’ Monga
‘Skin’ – Ajith Hedge & Vikram Rai
‘Leap of Faith’ – Apurv Inamdar (Winning film)
All featured videos were competition entrees and also chosen as finalists with 'Leap of Faith' being chosen as the competition winner.
