From a woman who has protected a tree for over 45 years to the importance of cows – a look at different religious practices and traditions in India.
‘It Happens Only In India’ was a film shorts competition and a collaboration between Scroll.in and DW. Participants told stories on the theme of India through a visual medium. The project aimed to document different and unique aspects of Indian culture and lifestyle, showcasing interesting stories from all over the country. Anyone was allowed to take part in the competition.
Films and filmmakers in order of appearance:
‘God, for a day’ – R.Shibi Nandan
‘Holy Cow’ – Arun Nair
‘Holi in Udaipur’ – D Cienmatic Eye
‘The Goddess under the Banyan Tree’ – Jayakrishnan Subramanian, Pius Neumaier and Franziska Subramanian
‘Human being God’ – Akash Ajgaonkar & Siddharth Gundawar (Runner Up)
All featured videos were competition entrees and also chosen as finalists. 'Human being God' won Runner Up.
