摘要
Stanford Challenge for Charity Weekend took place April 15-17.
Challenge for Charity is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 1984 by a GSB student whose sister had Down's Syndrome. Its mission is to encourage philanthropic involvement and school unity through a competition of nine West Coast business schools, primarily to benefit Special Olympics as well as one other local charity for each school. The volunteering and fundraising efforts culminate at C4C Weekend, where the nine schools compete in a sports competition held each spring at Stanford.
This year, the classes of 2011 and 2012 volunteered a total of 2,272 hours. The charities GSB students work with include the Special Olympics, Boys & Girls Club, and East Palo Alto Tennis & Tutoring. Total volunteer hours for the nine schools was 18,000. The business school participants raised $536,000.
Participating schools at the C4C weekend included: Stanford GSB, UCLA, USC, UC Berkeley, University of Washington, UC Irvine, UC Davis, Pepperdine, and University of San Francisco.
