Julia Reichelstein, MBA ’20: The West gives on average $130 billion in aid per year to developing countries. This collective giving fuels our narrative that we, the West, are “helping.” But are we? The aid budget is a tiny drop in the bucket compared to the billions each year the West extracts from poor countries. We need to get our story straight. Rich countries aren't developing poor countries — it’s the other way around.
