摘要

As the title of this video shows, a strange story has hit the news this week as an Egyptian mummy has spoken for the first time in 3,000 years. Ok, speaking isn't quite accurate, but academics at Royal Holloway, University of London, University of York and Leeds Museum scanned the mummy of an Egyptian priest Nesyamun and 3D printed his vocal tract and then played sound waves through it to create an impression of how the priest might have sounded. And although somewhat of an anti-climax, in this video I play the sound of the priest's voice, the first stage in a new scientific study that will culminate in words and sentences being made using the mummy's original voice. Read the new scientific paper at https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-019-56316-y Read the article from the Telegraph at https://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/2020/01/23/sound-mummy-listen-ancient-egyptian-priest-speaks-first-time/ All images and the sound is taken from the above sources and also from Google Images for educational purposes only.
