As April says, back in 1987, a Dr Oscar Rafael Padilla Lara received the picture and a description of the stone head, which said it was taken in the 1950s by the landowner and that it was located somewhere in the jungle of Guatemala.
The statue had now been defaced and largely destroyed, and hence the bizarre Caucasian stone head never reached the history books. And because this famous picture was used in the film ‘Revelations of the Mayans 2012 and Beyond’ as some dodgy proof of aliens, nobody has ever taken it seriously.
