摘要

Archaeologists from the INAH have discovered an ancient map carved into a volcanic rock in Colima, Mexico, which could be more than 2,000 years old. It is carved onto the face of a 1.7 metre or 5.77 foot high chunk of basalt, a fine grained extrusive volcanic rock, which would have been ejected from the Colima volcano, located 14 kilometres away, at some time in prehistory. This really is an incredible discovery because it shows small circular features, which experts have identified as ancient settlements, making it a map of the territorial organisation within a group of indigenous, Pre-Columbian, native settlements in the area. Julieo Ignacio Martinez de la Rosa, the head of INAH, said the significance and meaning of the stone map was based on a study of the designs and patterns as well as a comparison to similar petroglyphs found in the region. The map contains both orographic and hydrological features. Watch the video to learn more about this fantastic discovery, please like the video, comment and subscribe to Ancient Architects.
