摘要
It seems that many of the new archaeological discoveries are of the very ancient variety and in this video, I’m taking a short look at the research of Juan Jose Ibanez et al and their paper titled ‘ Flint figurines from the Early Neolithic site of Kharaysin, Jordan’, linked below.
We know that there is cave art and a small handful of figurines from these remote tones, but what experts have uncovered in Jordan is astonishing, in that dozens of these flint figurines have been discovered, all morphologically similar and collectively, they are a window into the lives of ancient humans.
For a start they cannot be mistaken for flint tools because they don’t seem to have any obvious use, no specific wear or purposefully sharp points to be spearheads. They have been knapped very specifically though, created in a certain form that certainly looks to be human.
They were found in burials at a site in Kharaysin, Jordan, a site which dates back to the Middle Pre-Pottery Neolithic, or the 8th millennium BC. Watch the video to learn more about this new exciting discovery and to see some detailed pictures of the ancient finds.
