摘要
After the world’s media focussed on the Parade of the Pharaohs last weekend, Egypt really needed to announce a major new discovery, and this is it, an enormous site dubbed the 'lost golden city' discovered in Luxor, Egypt, known as So’oud Aten, meaning Ascension of Aten or Rise of Aten.
It has a history dating back to the reign of the New Kingdom 18th Dynasty King Amenhotep III, son of Thutmose IV and father of the heretic king, Akhenaten, who shared the last 8 years of his father’s reign.
This is major news for Egypt. The city has been hidden under the sand for the past 3,000 years and apparently, it is the largest city ever found in Egypt by one of the country’s greatest pharaohs.
Hawass and his team from the Zahi Hawass Center for Egyptology, which is affiliated with the Bibilotheca Alexandrina and the Supreme Council of Antiquities, were originally searching for the funerary temple of King Tutankhamen, because the temples of Kings Horemheb and Ay were in the region. What they ended up finding was a lost city, the largest city ever found in Egypt.
Images released to the media at this stage are limited and when more information and images/video are released, I'll be sure to make a follow-up video here on the Ancient Architects Channel.
