The TOP 3 STRANGEST Looking Gods of Ancient Egypt | Ancient Architects

摘要

For this video I thought I’d take a look at something a bit different. Having looked through so many images from Ancient Egypt, you sometimes note specific things of interest, including things that make you laugh, and three Egyptian gods in particular look as strange as they do hilarious. Surely the Ancient Egyptian artists had a sense of humour? The first of the three gods is Medjed, the most bizarre and funny looking. He looks like a modern child’s drawing of a ghost, with a bedsheet over his head and two eyeholes to look out from. Then there is a 21st dynasty portrayal of the scarab-headed god Khepri, with his bizarre form having tiny wings, and then we have Nehebkau, another funny looking Egyptian god - the primordial snake with human legs. The three gods mentioned in this video all clearly had important roles in mythology and religion and I like to think the Ancient Egyptian artists had a sense of humour when they drew them onto ancient papyri.
