I recently received a very interesting email from friend of the channel, Shlomo Ishtov, who presented me with his hypothesis that the causeway of the Great Pyramid was actually a change from the original plan, something that was likely done after Khufu had died.
At first I didn't know what to think, but the more I looked into the hypothesis myself, the more I could see there was a very valid argument. We have a perfectly planned pyramid complex, organised and angular in construction, but then we have a causeway at a very strange angle leaving the Giza Plateau.
In this video, I’ll be looking into the hypothesis, looking at the evidence in favour, offering ideas for when it could have been done, and also the reasons why such a change was worthwhile. If you’re like me, you’ll find this hypothesis somewhat compelling. I have to say, I do think Ishtov is onto something, and this may well provide new areas of exploration for archaeologists and independent researchers.
It also brings into focus the famous Trial Passages and although I have never believed these were the chambers of a now ruined satellite pyramid, when you remodel the causeway to its original position, you can see that this is prime land for a pyramid and not just any pyramid, but likely the pyramid of Khufu's mother, Hetepheres I, wife of Sneferu and queen of the 4th dynasty.
By adding the pyramid and remodelling the causeway, this video will make you re-think the origins of the Great Pyramid complex and we also look into why such changes were required.
