Not many people know about the Dutch Pyramid, better known as the Pyramid of Austerlitz. It’s situated in a National Park in the Province of Utrecht in the Netherlands.
Kayleigh from the History with Kayleigh channel has researched and written this entire video. Unlike other examples around the world, like the Great Pyramid of Egypt, the Dutch Pyramid of Austerlitz is not thousands of years old, but hundreds, and its origins go back to Auguste de Marmont, who was part of Napoleon Bonaparte's Egyptian entourage in the late 18th century.
He was captivated by the Giza pyramids and when in the Netherlands, he and his men began a project, to create a pyramid from earth and peat. Construction started on September 10th 1804.
In this video, in collaboration with History with Kayleigh, we present the full history of the Dutch Pyramid of Austerlitz, as well as the history of Utrechtse Heuvelrug (Utrechtse Ridge) where it is situated.
