摘要

Alexander the Great, Yaroslav the Wise, Alfonso the Brave, Geoffrey the Hammer, Ferdinand the Handsome… Just a short list of real people who’s nicknames have been written into history Now spare a thought for a Roman Soldier Secundinus, who, thanks to a new discovery in the North East of England, has forever been immortalised as Secundinus the Sh*tter a name graffited next to a stylised penis. The block of stone was found at Vindolanda, a picturesque fort and settlement close to Hadrians Wall, near modern day Hexham in Northumberland. It was beneath the floor of a 4th century cavalry barrack. It’s 40 cm wide and 15 cm tall. Experts believe it was likely put on display in historic times, in a prominent position, maybe within the barracks of the Roman soldiers. Watch this video to learn more about this funny new discovery from Roman England and what the experts think about such an insult, written in stone.
