Disruption in Retail: Big Data with Scott Friend & Brett Garrett Scott Friend & Brett Garrett will discuss his experience founding and investing in companies that use data and analytics to disrupt retail and ecommerce. As an entrepreneur, Scott founded ProfitLogic which helped retailers make more accurate sales forecasts and pricing decisions by analyzing customer demand patterns. ProfitLogic was acquired by Oracle in 2005. As an investor at Bain Capital Ventures, Scott has been involved in analogous businesses that are using data and analytics to disrupt different parts of the retail ecosystem including CQuotient, HookLogic, and Tellapart. Brett joined Bain Capital Ventures in 2007. In that time, Brett has been involved in a wide range of investments across multiple sectors and stages. Currently, Brett splits his time between Boston and New York City where he evaluates venture and growth opportunities in digital media and e-commerce and assists companies throughout the Bain Capital Ventures portfolio. Prior to joining Bain Capital Ventures, Brett worked at L.E.K. Consulting in San Francisco, where he assisted both private equity and industry clients in the media and healthcare industries.
