摘要

Are you passionate about the arts and ensuring that they remain an important part of our cultural lives? Are you an entrepreneur at heart who dreams of creating a career out of that passion? If so, the Deans' Cultural Entrepreneurship Challenge is perfect for you! You will have an opportunity to learn about the field of Cultural Entrepreneurship, and network with potential team members. The event features remarks and an appearance by the co-creators of the award-winning musical, Witness Uganda. Students also hear from last year's grand prize winner, MUSEY. About the Challenge: The Deans' Cultural Entrepreneurship Challenge calls upon visionary and entrepreneurial students to develop solutions for expanding the role of the arts in society and supporting arts and artists in a sustainable manner. The goal of Cultural Entrepreneurship, and the Deans' Challenge, is to unite artistic and entrepreneurial visions to create and maintain ventures with the financial, social, and organizational infrastructure necessary for the arts and artists to survive and thrive. The Challenge is one of many year-long initiatives, coordinated by the i-lab, that foster cross-disciplinary team-building, learning, and idea generation, aimed at solving some of our society's biggest challenges. The i-lab will host a series of skill-building workshops and networking events related to the challenge. Up to six finalist teams will receive $5,000, expert mentorship and working space at the i-lab to help nurture and grow their ideas. Winning teams will split a grand prize of $50,000 in prize money and receive summer residency at the i-lab. More details regarding the challenge timeline and guidelines can be found here. The Deans' Cultural Entrepreneurship Challenge draws on the combined expertise of the Harvard Business School, the Division of Arts and Humanities in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and the Silk Road Project, a nonprofit arts organization affiliated with Harvard University and led by cellist Yo-Yo Ma. The i-lab will play an active role as host to the teams as they develop and refine their ideas, assisting students by hosting workshops, providing guidance, and giving them access to our resources and facility throughout the Challenge.
