In September 2021, Time Team conducted a dig within the grounds of the Estate which revealed a huge Roman villa set within a vast agricultural landscape. While they were there, Prof. Susannah Lipscomb took the opportunity to explore the interior of Broughton Castle and delve into its long and colourful history. Together with some of the Time Team, she investigated some of the architectural mysteries that had been puzzling the current owners for decades and found some unexpected clues hidden within the walls.
