Tesla has decommissioned its Model S and X production lines to make way for the establishment of its first Optimus production line. This new line is designated for the Optimus V3, also referred to as Gen 3, which is confirmed as the first actual production model of Optimus, clarifying some terminology. This production line is projected to have a capacity of up to 1 million Optimus units per year. The strategic decision to delete and decommission the S and X lines was made because it was deemed the fastest method to create space for the volume production of the first consumer Optimus robots.
